The ErinoakKids Independent Living Program

As a CTC, we must discharge client children when they reach the age of 19. And the question is, what’s next for them? How can they cope with adult independence after a lifetime in the care of their parents and the professionals at ErinoakKids? The Independent Living Program is the answer.

The two-week program – delivered in a safe, secure, supportive and accessible learning environment at Sheridan College in Oakville – takes place each summer thanks to a partnership between ErinoakKids and the Hamilton and District Participaction House, an adult service agency that provides housing and attendant services to adults with disabilities.

Since our ILP is not covered by government funding, the program must rely entirely on donor support – including major annual support from the Milton, Ontario chapter of the Harley Owners Group (HOG) who, since they took our ILP to their hearts when the program launched in 2001, have raised almost $170,000 to keep it alive.

For more information about the program please contact Jon Greenaway at jgreenaway@erinoakkids.ca   Or to make a donation in support of the Independent Living program click here or contact Anissa Hilborn at 905-491-4661.
