The “Baxter elves” spent the day putting up holiday decorations at two ErinoakKids sites as well as assembling and wrapping 80 holiday hamper boxes. As part of Baxter’s annual WISH campaign, Baxter employees, together with ErinoakKids staff and community sponsors, will fill the gift hampers for selected ErinoakKids clients and families.
“The visit from Baxter Canada volunteers is a long-standing holiday tradition at ErinoakKids,” said Bridget Fewtrell, President and CEO of ErinoakKids. “Having a child with a disability often puts a huge financial strain on families, making it difficult for them to purchase toys, gifts or food items that help make the holidays special. The generosity of the Baxter staff makes a real difference in the lives of families that are facing financial challenges.”
Baxter’s WISH campaign wraps up on December 11, at which point the gift hampers will be prepared and distributed to those families being supported this year.
“ErinoakKids continues to serve as an important resource for many families in our community and Baxter employees feel great pride in our longstanding relationship and the opportunity to help make a difference,” said Mike Oliver, General Manager of Baxter Canada.
Baxter’s volunteer day at ErinoakKids is part of the company’s annual 75 Days of Caring employee volunteer campaign which kicked-off in September with a tree planting day at The Riverwood Conservancy. The volunteer campaign, which encouraged Baxter employees to volunteer in communities across Canada, concludes on December 11 at the end of the Baxter WISH drive for ErinoakKids. To recognize and celebrate employees’ community caring, Baxter will then announce grants totaling $25,000 to charities selected by employees who volunteered this year.
