Summary

ErinoakKids is currently seeking energetic Respite Service Facilitators to support children and young adults that are medically and/or behaviourally complex within respite services. The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and work towards supporting clients as they participate in daily living activities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning, implementing and evaluating activities of daily living for participants in the Respite Program;
  • Engage in general client care including feeding, dressing and bathing;
  • Work towards maximizing client independence in day to day activities;
  • Promote participation in leisure activities and social skill development;
  • Employ behavior management strategies as appropriate;
  • Operate transfer and mobility equipment;
  • Full support for diapering and toileting.

Qualifications

  • Must have or be working towards Child & Youth Worker (CYW) diploma, Developmental Support Worker (DSW), Social Service Worker (SSW), Autism Behavioural Sciences (ABS) certificate or relevant education and/or experience;
  • Experience working with children and/or young adults with physical and developmental disabilities is preferred;
  • Experience working with children and/or young adults with medical needs such as seizures, tracheostomies and feeding tubes;
  • Experience working with children and/or young adults with challenging behaviors;
  • Experience with assisting individuals in personal care;
  • Knowledge of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) is an asset;
  • Current C.P.R. and First Aid and CPI certificate is preferred;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, overnight and weekends;
  • Enjoy working with children in a team atmosphere;
  • Bilingualism in French and English is an asset.
