A Message From ErinoakKids President and CEO
May 19, 2020
Last week the Ontario government announced that in-person delivery of certain health and medical services could resume at organizations that are able to meet specified criteria focused on preventing transmission of the COVID-19 virus. High level continuation of virtual services was also encouraged in an effort to dampen transmission and keep infection rates down.
On this basis, ErinoakKids is pleased to announce that beginning Monday, May 25, 2020 we will begin resumption of on-site services slowly, and in a limited approach.
In this first phase of resumption of in-person care, only urgent medical and audiology appointments, as well as services deemed low risk for transmission, will be offered on-site. At this time, virtual care will continue, and will remain the primary means of service delivery for most of the children and families in our care.
Safeguarding the health and safety of our client families and our staff is our first and most important priority. For this reason, in-person services will be phased in over the coming weeks and months, as we move cautiously to monitor developments and increase on-site services as appropriate, to mitigate risk and optimize safety.
To reduce risk as we begin resumption of in-person service delivery, only clients with confirmed appointments will be admitted on site, and only one parent/caregiver may accompany a child to his/her appointment. Everyone will be screened prior to entry, and will be asked to respect all physical distancing and associated safety guidelines. Our staff will be wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), appropriate for the work they are doing, in accordance with public health guidelines.
We are pleased to begin resumption of in-person delivery of vital services for the children and youth we care for, and to continue to offer as many virtual services as possible to support families through this challenging time. If you have questions about the re-opening of our sites, or would like to speak to one of our clinicians or support staff, please call 905-855-2690 (toll free: 1-877-374-6625). Please note that our staff members are checking voicemail and returning messages on an ongoing basis.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate through this unprecedented situation together. Our commitment, as always, remains to help children and youth with disabilities thrive and develop their full potential.
Stay safe and stay well.
