BDO Canada bowling fundraiser raises $30,000 to support ErinoakKids

August 21, 2015
MISSISSAUGA, ON, August 20, 2015 — BDO Canada, a leading accounting, tax and advisory firm, donated $30,000 today to help fund the purchase of specialized treatment equipment and services for children and youth with disabilities and special needs at ErinoakKids.

“ErinoakKids is proud and honoured to accept this generous donation today from our community supporters at BDO Canada’s Mississauga office,” said ErinoakKids’ President and CEO Bridget Fewtrell. “With demand for our programs increasing at 10 percent per year, extraordinary fundraising efforts like this help us continue to offer the critical programming and services that so many of our clients need to live happy, healthy lives.”

This year marks the eighth year BDO Canada’s Mississauga office has supported a non-profit organization as part of their mandate to give back to their local communities. Over eight years, they have raised more than $300,000 for a range of causes. Earlier this spring, staff selected ErinoakKids as their charity of choice for the event.
“ErinoakKids provides services to over 9,000 children and youth each year within the Peel region alone,” said Peter Campbell, Managing Partner of BDO’s Mississauga office. “It’s an honour for us to have the opportunity to support an organization that positively impacts the lives of so many.”
Money raised from the event will be earmarked for equipment and resources for the new Mississauga site, as part of ErinoakKids’ $20 million In My Dreams fundraising campaign for three new sites set to open in spring 2017. The new sites – one in Brampton, a second in Oakville and a third in Mississauga, will bring together in one location, therapy, medical and support services for children and youth with disabilities. The Brampton site will also house what will be Ontario’s largest respite centre for children who are medically fragile/technology dependent, have complex care requirements, or autism.
Today’s event, which featured 10-pin bowling, a silent auction and raffle, raised $30,000 to date for ErinoakKids.
