News and Announcements

May 03, 2021
ErinoakKids now has a new online tool called Catalyst for parents and guardians of children and youth enrolled in Autism Services to track their child/youth's progress. During each therapy session,* ErinoakKids’ Behavior Clinicians collect data related to each child/youth’s specified goals and input that data into the child/youth’s Catalyst account. Parents/guardians can sign up for a free Catalyst account and log in to track their child/youth's progress. The information is updated after every session, and is available in graph form, so it’s easy to see a picture of how progress is being made over various sessions.

Visit the Catalyst page to learn more about this tool and to watch videos on how to use Catalyst.

*Please note that service packages for Speech and Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy are not able to be tracked through Catalyst at this time.

April 07, 2021
Our provincial government announced this afternoon that effective Thursday, April 8 at 12:01 a.m., all of Ontario will enter into a stay at home order for the next four weeks in order to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. This means we should only leave home for essential purposes such as work, grocery shopping, health care appointments etc.

As a result of this lock down, for everyone’s safety, the difficult decision has been made to cancel respite services until (minimally) April 19 at which time current conditions will be re-assessed. We are, however, continuing to provide scheduled 1:1 (only) appointments which are being delivered in accordance with strict protocols. ErinoakKids’ infection control protocols exceed all recommendations of Public Health, and combined with appropriate use of PPE provide high levels of  protection to our clients and families, as well as staff.

In order to continue delivery of essential services, we will remain vigilant in requiring staff, client families and all who attend our sites to adhere to our health and safety protocols. This includes (but is not limited to) the requirement that all persons entering out site answer COVID-19 screening questions that can be found on our COVID-19 resource page. Please review these questions before your appointment to ensure that you are cleared to enter the site.

We continue to monitor conditions on a daily basis and will post updates on our website. Please check back regularly, and stay safe.

April 05, 2021

Please note that as of Monday, April 5 at 2:30p.m. Dr. Lawrence Loh, Chief Medical Officer of Health for Region of Peel has closed in-person classes for all students in Peel Region effective immediately.  All classes will switch to virtual for this coming week, and Spring Break will proceed as scheduled for the week of April 12.

This means that SBRS in-school services will be currently unavailable on premises in PEEL however, there are currently no changes for SBRS services in HALTON and DUFFERIN as schools remain open.

Daycares in Peel and Halton remain open, so there is no change to those services at present.

Currently, there are no changes to any other ErinoakKids appointments. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates on our website.

March 09, 2021

Beginning April 1, 2021 ErinoakKids will begin providing Preschool Speech and Language (PSL) services to children in Dufferin County. Preschool Speech and Language Services were previously delivered to these families through Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health.

This transition will allow Dufferin families not only to access PSL services through ErinoakKids, but will also give them access to additional resources and supports to help meet their child’s needs.

We are pleased to welcome children and families from Dufferin to our Preschool Speech and Language program. Staff from our Orangeville site look forward to meeting you and helping your children grow and develop!

Given the continued high rates of COVID-19 infection across the geographic areas we serve, ErinoakKids is currently providing on-site services by appointment only, in cases identified as urgent. All other services will be offered virtually, when and as appropriate.

At this time, client, family and staff safety is our highest priority. December 01, 2020
Please be advised that effective immediately, clients accessing autism services who attend the Brampton site will be provided with these services virtually (only). Given the intensity, length and continuous close contact requirement of autism therapy sessions, a temporary pause on in-person services has been implemented, as an additional measure, to maximize the safety of clients, families and staff at a time of high levels of COVID-19 in the Brampton area. This pause will be in effect for the month of December. We will continue to monitor the situation and communicate with families, in the hope that by January 2021 case levels have stabilized to the point that on site autism services can be re-instituted at Brampton. Meantime, we encourage parents to take advantage of the availability of high quality, virtual services for their children. Stay safe and be well, everyone.
November 24, 2020

MISSISSAUGA – November 24, 2020 – ErinoakKids Centre for Treatment and Development has partnered with Superfan Nav Bhatia to raise awareness and understanding of autism support services available to children and their families. Superfan Nav Bhatia, South-Asian Canadian entrepreneur, was sincerely inspired by the warmth and quality of services provided at ErinoakKids during his visits to two Erinoakkids sites earlier this year. Recognizing the lack of knowledge and conversations about autism care that may exist in communities in need of such supports, he encourages families to have honest conversations and be open to seeking the right support to help their children achieve their fullest potential.
