We are in the process of moving the health records of our clients to an electronic format. This electronic health record will replace our paper records.
An electronic health record will enable ErinoakKids to:
Look up a client’s health information at any time and from any location. This will make it easier for caregivers and clients to work together.
Carry out research and provide education.
Identify the best methods for doing our work. This will help us monitor the quality of service we provide.
Reduce the time it takes to find, handle and process a client’s health information.
Remain current with the direction healthcare is taking for charting and storing health information.
As a result of the electronic health record, you may see the following changes:
Your therapist may bring a laptop computer into some of your sessions. This will allow your therapist to look at documents in the electronic health record.
The electronic health record will make it easier for you to view your child’s health information in a treatment session.
Eventually, doctors and therapists at other healthcare facilities who work with your child will be able to view the electronic health record. This will improve communication and teamwork when serving your child.
We are committed to protecting client confidentiality.
Our health information system is designed specifically to protect the security of our client’s health information. The system is regularly monitored to ensure that information remains secure at all times.
We have trained staff members to use the electronic health record. They have also had the opportunity to practice using the new system.
