Stout Monk donates $60,000 to support children and youth with disabilities at ErinoakKids

June 16, 2015
OAKVILLE, ON, June 16, 2015 ― The Stout Monk, a popular Oakville pub and longtime supporter of children with disabilities, today donated $60,000 to help support programming for children with special needs at ErinoakKids.

The money, raised from Stout Monk’s annual Spring Charity Golf Classic ― presented by STYLUS Asset Management ― will go towards ErinoakKids’ $20-million In My Dreams fundraising campaign. The campaign is raising money to purchase specialized therapy and treatment equipment for ErinoakKids’ three new state-of-the-art treatment centres currently under construction in Oakville, Brampton and Mississauga. The campaign will also fund unfunded programs, including ErinoakKid’s Independent Living Program (ILP).

“The Stout Monk is pleased to be supporting an important organization within our community meeting the needs of children and youth with disabilities,” said Co-Owners Rick Przybylski and Kevin McDermott. “Of the $60,000 donated today, $10,000 will support the Independent Living Program, which helps young people with disabilities learn the skills of adulthood when they leave the care of ErinoakKids.”
The ILP program offers up to 14 young people from ErinoakKids an opportunity to live in a barrier-free apartment while learning skills such as banking, use of public transit, cooking, self-advocacy and more. The program is one of many at ErinoakKids that relies on the generous support of donors.
“At ErinoakKids, many of the offerings we provide to support the children we serve in achieving their goals are critical to their learning, development and independence,” said Bridget Fewtrell, President and CEO of ErinoakKids. “The Stout Monk is a great friend of ErinoakKids, and we are deeply gratified by their stalwart support that will enable our organization to ensure our children and youth receive the equipment and programming they need to live life to the fullest.”
