On Feb. 6, 2019, the Ontario government announced changes to the way autism services are funded. As a result of that change, ErinoakKids will no longer receive funding from the government to provide autism services. In order to continue serving children with autism and their families, ErinoakKids must move to a fee for service model. Click here

As of Jan. 1, 2019, ErinoakKids Centre for Treatment and Development will take over management of contracts with existing service providers for the delivery of school-based rehabilitation services in publicly-funded schools in the regions of Halton, Peel, Dufferin, Woodbridge and West Etobicoke. These contracts were previously managed by the Local Health Integration Networks (LHINs).

ErinoakKids’ summer Helping Hands program kicked off this week at our Mississauga site. The program uses Constraint Induced Movement Therapy (CIMT) to improve hand/arm use in kids with hemiplegia, a type of cerebral palsy that results in weakness on one side of the body. The program helps children improve impaired hand and arm function through fun group games and art activities such as painting, treasure hunts and more!

BRAMPTON, Ontario – May 4, 2018 – ErinoakKids Centre for Treatment and Development officially opened its new Brampton facility, which includes the largest respite centre in the province. The growing demand for therapy, medical and support services for kids with disabilities and special needs prompted the need to create a single point of care for families in need of ErinoakKids’ services. The Brampton site is one of three new, purpose-built, state-of-the-art children’s treatment centres in Peel and Halton regions.

Earlier this year, in June, I announced the new Ontario Autism Program (also known as the OAP). This new program is the result of the hard work and passion of many dedicated families, stakeholders, service providers, advocates, professionals and other experts. The changes introduced in June were focused on providing child, youth and family-centred services that offer families choice, confidence and consistency in the services they receive.

On Thursday June 8, the Minister of Children and Youth Services Michael Coteau unveiled the new Ontario Autism Program at ErinoakKids’ Autism In-Centre at our North Sheridan site. Under the new program, set to begin on June 26, all children and youth up to age 18 with an autism diagnosis will receive service that is family-centered, flexible and responsive to their needs, strengths and goals.

We’re excited to share some changes to our baseball program for the upcoming season. We believe these changes will strengthen the program offerings and bring additional benefits to our ErinoakKids families. Starting this summer, Erindale Little League will be running the registration process and day-to-day management of the Baseball Challenger Program. This is a change from past baseball seasons, where this was managed by ErinoakKids.

MISSISSAUGA, ON, Dec. 3, 2015 — Families of children with special needs received a boost today thanks to a $100,000 multi-year commitment from CIBC earmarked for ErinoakKids’ Respite Program. CIBC’s donation marks the single largest respite donation in the organization’s history.
