National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day

September 30 marks Canada’s first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and #OrangeShirtDay, a day to honour and remember those impacted by the residential school system, their families and communities.

We are lowering our flags and encouraging ErinoakKids staff to wear orange today to raise awareness of the tragic legacy of residential schools, to honour those who died as a result, as well as all survivors of this devastation. At 10:00 a.m., we will break for a moment of silence across all of our sites to mourn and remember Indigenous children, families and communities impacted through the generations and ongoing.
