Day & Overnight Respite

COVID-19 Measures

Due to pandemic restrictions, we are unable to accept children/youth with the following needs at this time: 

  • suctioning
  • high flow oxygen
  • aggressive behaviour(s) towards others that require frequent assistance

Important Information

Along with our mandatory health screening at ErinoakKids sites for all staff, clients and visitors, effective September 7, all visitors over the age of 12, will be required to be to be vaccinated to visit our sites, and this will include the parent/caregiver accompanying their child to an appointment. Any parent/caregiver, client over the age of 12 or visitor who does not have proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 will be required to have Rapid Antigen Testing on arrival. A reminder that only one parent/child is permitted to accompany a child to their appointment, and siblings are not permitted on site.

Medically Fragile Technologically Dependent Respite Program

A respite program for children who have the enhanced respite funding, and are identified as Medically Fragile Technologically Dependent (MFTD). Currently, the program operates on designated weekends during the school year. Families may register their child to attend either the day-only option or the overnight option. 

Age: birth to age 18

Open to: Children identified by the LHIN Care Coordinator as medically fragile and/or technologically dependent (MFTD) and living in their home with their parents in Peel, Halton or Dufferin are eligible for the Respite Camp.

Location: The Giampaolo Foundation Clinical Site (Brampton). The site houses a 26-bed regional respite centre that includes two wings: The Brannon Family Aspen Lodge and The Birch Lodge

Non-Medically Fragile Technologically Dependent Respite Program

ErinoakKids’ Respite Program is for children living in the Peel/Halton/Dufferin Regions who have significant physical disabilities and do not receive the Enhanced Respite Funding. The program runs on designated weekends during the school year. Families may register their child to attend either the overnight or day-only option. 

Age: birth to 18
