This program is for participants with disabilities who need minimal assistance and/or supervision. This fun and enjoyable program consists of one hour of swim time during our public swim, plus a variety of weekly activities such as crafts, games and active play.

Children with special needs swim lessons focus on developing sound water safety habits and basic swim skills. Partcipants must be accompanied by a caregiver over the age of 14
Town of Caledon
Inclusion support - aquatics 3-13 years-old
This support can be requested by first registering for the desired program and then also registering in this Inclusion support program, on the same day the program selected is being offered. Please note that spaces are limited and inclusion support will be scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis and is subject to the availability of staff. Once registered, a member of our staff will contact participants to discuss individual needs.
Adapted Swimming Lessons
The Adapted Swimming Lesson program is designed for children with special needs. With the needs of each individual in mind, the goal of this program is to provide basic water instruction and to teach water safety skills in a one-to- one setting. Oakville Swim Academy
Small class sizes are offered. Contact them to discuss your child’s diagnosis and they will provide recommendations or an opportunity for an assessment to determine the best swimming class for your child.
Making Waves Swim School (Brampton, Milton, Mississauga, Vaughan)
Integrated, low ratio (3:1) swimming lessons in a warm water pool. Private and accessible lessons offered. Please contact specific locations for availability.
YMCA Y-Knot Program (Mississauga)
Small group swimming lessons for children with physical disabilities and their siblings. They offer two levels: Learn to Swim for beginners and Stroke Improvement for more advanced swimmers.
Currently offered on Wednesdays and Fridays. Once enrolled, children can swim twice a week for 30 minutes each time. Participants in the program are required to have a YMCA membership.

Mississauga Synchronized Swimming Association (Mississauga)
Unique Athletes Recreational Program: for females with special needs. Swimmer level 5 or equivalent is recommended.
Special Olympics Ontario (Multiple locations)
Providing year-round sports training and athletic competition for individuals with intellectual disabilities. SOO promotes opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and develop skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympic athletes and the community

Swimmers have to be accompanied by a caregiver.
Dash and Splash (Burlington)
For ages 4-12. An integrated program where participants can enjoy physical activities, music, sensory play, crafts, and story time. Each class will end with a 30 minute swim. Focus will be on increasing Physical Literacy in a variety of environments by developing the FUNdamental Movement Skills through fun and engaging games and activities.
Dunk and Dive (Burlington)
For ages 13-21. An integrated program where participants can enjoy physical activities, music, sensory play, crafts, and story time. Each class will end with a 30 minute swim. Focus will be on increasing Physical Literacy in a variety of environments by developing the FUNdamental Movement Skills through fun and engaging games and activities.
Facilities that have (t) beside them indicate there is a therapy pool onsite with water temperatures between 88-95 degrees.
