Orthopedic Clinic

Referral Criteria: Children and youth with Neuromotor conditions requiring specialist orthopedic assessment and intervention can be referred to Orthopedic Clinic. Referrals for scoliosis and general orthopedic concerns should be directed to other community clinics as appropriate. All referrals are reviewed for eligibility by the Orthopedic surgeon. 

Who Can Refer: Paediatric Medical Specialist, Neurologist or Nurse Practitioner (Please include OHIP billing information and all relevant supporting documents) 

Who is part of the team: Hospital for Sick Children’s Orthopedic Surgeon and team, ErinoakKids Physiotherapist

How to prepare for the appointment:

  • Your child’s Health Card. The Ministry of Health and Long Term Care requires us to validate your health card at every clinic visit.
  • Older clients may be more comfortable in shorts during the assessment
  • If your child requires a lift, please bring your sling and have your child sitting on the sling in the wheelchair

How can I prepare my child prior to the visit: Your child may be asked to complete a series of physical tasks in order to assess their mobility and general level of functioning. Your child’s range of motion will be assessed while lying down on the assessment bed.
